"Whatever you do, do from the heart as for The Lord, and not for others." - Colossians 3:23
How many of you are guilty of slacking off at work if you know your boss is not around? Or how many of you clean harder when you know someone is coming to visit? We do things very differently when someone is watching as when no one is watching. This is because most of the time what we really care about is what people think of us and not so much about the quality we give to our work.
We take the fact that God watches every single thing we do day and night for granted. We forget He's there. Being a good Christian isn't only about praying and doing acts of kindness towards others, but also about how you live every aspect of your life. If Jesus had a 9-5, do you think He would have slacked when His boss wasn't around? Do you think He would have only cleaned well when people were coming over? I know it's a silly comparison but I believe Jesus kept perfect order in everything He did because He knew that was pleasing to God. God is pleased with us when we bring our best to everything we do because usually, when we do the opposite it is because we are being lazy and accommodating ourselves.
Starting today, do everything for God, to be pleasing to Him.
Today's Prayer:
Father, help me to be more like Your son and bring perfection to everything I do from washing the dishes to opening the door for someone at a store. By doing this, I know I am changing inwardly and purifying my soul from only caring about myself and my needs. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.
