"Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
on your own intelligence do not rely." - Proverbs 3:5
Whenever we have to wait for something, it feels awful. It's almost like there is a desperation that goes with it. One of the toughest things to do is to wait on God's timing for something when we feel we should have it right now. It feels like He is not listening to us and doesn't care about what we are asking for. Have you ever felt like that? Is there something you are asking God for right now that He is delaying action?
I have been asking God for something for so long and it feels like it is never going to happen, but I do not let those thoughts stay in my mind for long. That's the enemy trying to work in us and take away the trust and confidence we have in God. Those are the thoughts that start to take over and make us despair. As the verse says, we cannot rely on our own intelligence because we are so weak and limited in understanding what is good for us and what is not. When it comes to faith, "trust" should be a verb because we need to actively work on waiting for God's timing. We need to make it a point to know in our hearts that He loves us and that He knows what is best for us when our own wants can deceive us. As difficult as it can be, and sometimes even painful, we have to learn to be patient and wait for God to act for us instead of trying to force His hand when we are not ready for what He has to give us.
Today's Prayer:
Father, give me peace while I wait on Your timing. I don't understand why I am waiting but I know that You know better and You have something better for me prepared down the road. Give me joy while I wait and make my trust in You grow day by day. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.
