"But seek first the kingdom (of God) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides." - Matthew 6:33
You know how everyone is always talking about "what would Jesus do?" This verse is the one that makes sure you are doing what Jesus would do. It should be your reference point for every decision you make in your life because it means you are basing your decision on the foundation of prayer, instead of worry or selfish gains. It is actually worry that separates us most from God because when we worry, we are looking to ourselves and our own power instead of relying on God. And seriously, what power do we have? As much as we want, we can't change the way people think or the things they do. We can't change what happens to us or our families. We can't take away hurt or suffering. We can only put those things in the hands of the only person who can.
When we surrender all those things we are holding onto so tightly within our hearts because of fear and worry, we are giving them over to God and He is relieving us of those burdens. He doesn't want us to carry it; He only wants us to trust. The how's and the why's are truly none of our concern. To the scale we put our trust in God, He, in turn, shows us His blessings and His graces because we have allowed Him to take over and show us the beautiful plans He has for our lives.
Today's Prayer:
Jesus, help me to give up on worrying and trying to take control and give it all up to You. You know more than me. You are all powerful and I am weak. Help me to trust so that I can see and experience all You have for me. In Your Name we pray, amen.
