"Then the word of the LORD came to me: Can I not do to you, house of Israel, as this potter has done?—oracle of the LORD. Indeed, like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, house of Israel." - Jeremiah 18:5-6
You know when you're having a really great day and you're saying your prayers and you're trying your best to do the will of God, and then bam - you mess up. You sin. All of a sudden you find yourself doing something you really didn't want to do so easily! One moment you are golden, the next you're wondering how you could have been so weak. You see the consequences, the people you hurt, and you feel awful. Sometimes I sit back and I wonder - why does God even bother with me? Will I ever get it right?
Then I remember I am just a pot. His creation. A potter sits at the wheel with the design in his mind trying to bring it to life. In God's mind, I am beautiful and perfect. You are beautiful and perfect, but this life is where we are sculpted and brought to that perfection. The sun and wind can come and dry us out before we are finished. We can collapse, our edges might be rough, but our potter is not finished with us yet. You and I are in His hands until He is finished building us up, smoothing our edges, making us perfect until we become that beautiful creation He intended us to be.
Today's Prayer:
My Father in Heaven, thank You for Your infinite patience with me. I am truly humbled that You care so much and You put so much effort into shaping me until perfection. Help me to always remember that I am in Your hands no matter what. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.
