"Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun set on your anger and do not leave room to the devil." - Ephesians 4:26-27
My kids drove me up a wall today! I had them all day by myself and I wanted to pull out my hair! They didn't want to nap but were cranky. They drew on the walls with crayon. They kept fighting and throwing their toy cars at each other! I'm sure I looked like one of the Looney Tunes characters with steam blowing out of my head! But before putting them to bed, they gave me kisses. They hugged me and my heart softened. I know tomorrow will be a better day and the anger I felt today will be gone.
Tomorrow is not only a new day but a new year. Paul tells us to not let the sun set on our anger because it's perfectly natural to lose it sometimes but don't let it carry over. Don't let it become a grudge and something you carry bitterly for days, weeks and some even carry things for years! Are you carrying a grudge or are you holding resentment towards somebody for a while now? You better not let it carry over into the New Year for your own sake. Bring it to God and ask for help in letting go! Give your heart a clean slate for 2014!
Today's Prayer:
Father, may the new year also bring me a new heart that is purer and gentler than ever before. Leave behind me any grudges or anger I feel towards anybody and help me have the best year yet! In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.

Do Not Carry Into the New Year
