Do You Still Not Understand?

"The disciples had forgotten to bring more bread and had only one loaf with them in the boat. And they said to one another, 'He saw that we have no bread.' Aware of this, Jesus asked them 'Why are you talking about the loaves you are short of? Have you eyes that don't see and ears that don't hear? And do you not remember when I broke the fives loaves among five thousand? How many baskets full of leftovers did you collect?' They answered, 'Twelve.' 'And having seven loaves for the four thousand, how many wicker baskets of leftovers did you collect?' They answered, 'Seven.' Then Jesus said to them, 'Do you still not understand?'" - Mark 8:14,16-21

It's super easy to read this passage and think, wow, those disciples were really dumb! How many of us would have loved to have actually been there to see Jesus in action?! To see Him multiply those loaves for thousands of people, to walk on water, to heal people. IF ONLY, we tell ourselves, IF ONLY God would show me that, THEN I will believe. But it's really not that easy because the disciples saw all of that and still doubted. It's in our nature to keep being cynical and skeptical about what God can do for us. It's like Jesus said, it seemed like their eyes never saw anything He did for them.

But I will tell you what I do see and what I do hear… I see the Lord working in the young people around me. I hear young people tell me about the way God is working in their lives, and about how when they give Him a chance, He does SO much instantly. Just today I had two people contact me about huge miracles God is doing in their lives. I tell my bible study that we are always looking for God to act or speak to us, but He does it alllll the time, we just need to open our eyes and ears to realize that He's acting.

You might need the Lord to come through for you in a big way right now, but you need to understand one thing, the Lord has never abandoned or ignored anyone before, and He will not do it with you. Think about all the good He's done for you or your loved ones in the past and hold on to that hope while He comes through for you in the present. Don't let doubts or fears of any kind hold you back on the hope that is always ours in Christ!

Today's Prayer:
Lord Jesus, praise be to You, my Lord, for You are always faithful and always there for anyone who calls on Your Name. May our eyes and ears always remain open to Your work and Your amazing Providence in our lives. In Your Name we pray, amen.
