A Better Me

"It is no longer I who live, but Christ in me." - Galatians 2:19

I can tell the difference in myself when I don't pray as often right away. I'm not as nice as I know I can be. I'm not as giving as I know I can be. And most of all, when I accidentally drop something or I bang my toe against a table, four letter words are what come out of my mouth, instead of the peace I've had on other occasions. The fact is that I like myself much better when I'm living the way Jesus wants me to live. I feel better about myself and I am able to see so much good in others and wish so much good for them as well. It's not like that when we don't have that relationship with God because on our own, we can't be good, we can't forgive, we can't give. It's easy for the poison of people around us to come into our hearts. The only way we're able to be better people is by having Christ live in us. Christ is the one who brings out the good in us and makes us respond in ways of peace and love to those around us.

I know what it's like to not like some things about myself and if you would like to change for the better, if you want to put deceit, jealousy and all kinds of pettiness behind you, I invite you to ask Jesus to come live in your heart, so it's no longer you who live, but Christ in you.

Today's Prayer:
Jesus, without You I am lost. I do all kinds of things I'm not proud of. I like myself much better when you're in control. Please come to live in my heart and help me with all I do. In Your Name we pray, amen.
