Reaping What You Sow

"A good tree always produces good fruit, a rotten tree produces bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit and a rotten tree cannot bear good fruit." - Matthew 7:17-18

People in the time of Jesus knew the earth very well. They knew the work that went into reaping a good harvest, which is why Jesus often used this example when preaching. A lot of people believe that what goes around comes around, and in our relationships with God you reap what you sow. You may want to be blessed with money, good relationships and good health, but these things don't just happen, you have to sow the blessings first! This means praying and investing the time with God. This means getting your life and your priorities straight in order to prepare for the harvest. You have to nurture your life and your relationship with God right now so that when the times come to draw from blessings you need, the seeds were growing all along.

Some people get upset and depressed when bad things happen… they lose all hope and all faith, but they should have been taking care of their land when things were good. Blessings grow from hearts which were sown properly and taken care of. If you sow doubt, insecurity, worry, and fear instead of faith and hope in God, doubts, insecurities, worries, and fears are what you will get back. But even if you have nothing and your faith is very small and still you decide to sow hope and faith, you will not only get a greater hope and faith than before, but God will let you harvest many blessings because He can do much more than what you could ever hope for or imagine!

Today's Prayer:
Lord, when things aren't going my way, please help me sow good so that in time I may reap more blessings. No matter how busy, tired, stressed, or lukewarm I become, don't ever let me sow anything but good. In Your Name we pray, amen.
