The Best Gift Ever!

"The angel said to them, 'Don't be afraid; I am here to give you good news, great joy for all the people. Today a Savior has been born to you in David's town; He is the Messiah and the Lord.'" - Luke 2:10-11

Think of Christmases past and try to remember the best gift you have ever received. You might not remember too many of them and that right there should tell you that's not what Christmas is about. Yet, there is another gift we have received which we overlook and is the most important thing in our lives. The night Christ was born, God decided to share His joy with poor shepherds in a field at night. Angels appeared to them to tell them that a Savior had been born to them, the Messiah and Lord. These shepherds represent all who suffer in the world, all who struggle, all who are sad and all who feel alone. They represent those who are forgotten and all those who carry heavy burdens. The best gift we have ever received is that God loved us so much that He descended from His throne in Heaven to make Himself vulnerable with us. Sometimes we don't have the strength to reach God, so He wanted to come down to us and struggle with us.

Christ wasn't just born 2,000 years ago, but today, He is born to you, He is your Messiah and your Lord.

Merry Christmas!

Today's Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for making Yourself vulnerable as we are vulnerable. Thank You for choosing to save us and experience life as we do. Help those who struggle and are sad know that to them, a Savior has been born. In Your Name we pray, amen.
