"Ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks, receives; whoever seeks, finds; and the door will be opened to him who knocks." - Matthew 7:7-8
It's not hard to understand God at all. Throughout the entire bible, there are only a handful of concepts for us to grasp for our every day lives: God loves us, do not fear, have faith, and most importantly, always pray. If we can accept all of these, we know God. However, all of these depend on the last point, always pray, which we don't do enough of. Even when we really need something from God, we pray hard for a few days, but when we don't see results, we give up right away. This shouldn't be so. Jesus tells us to keep asking, keep knocking. Eventually God will open that door. When we give up, we lose the hope and perseverance God wanted us to develop. Our character remains small and weak. But through prayer, constantly dialoguing with God, we become closer to Him, we grow in faith, we lose our fears and we learn how much He loves us. By spending more time knocking on God's door, those things that are so hard for us to understand, become transparent before our eyes as we start walking through the door. God, who was once such a mystery, becomes revealed to us in prayer.
Today's Prayer:
Lord God, give me a stronger devotion to prayer. Let my heart and mind seek You when I'm alone. Let my thoughts always drift to thoughts of You so that I can get to know You better and understand Your ways. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.
