"This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in Heaven, holy be Your name." - Matthew 6:9
During His ministry, Jesus taught us so many important things, but probably the most important is that He gave God to us as our Father. For centuries the Jews believed that God rewarded and punished people for their deeds during their lifetime, so that must have made people very wary of God. But when the Son of God came to tell us that the Almighty is also our Father, that completely changed the image of God.
I have a great relationship with my dad. He means the world to me and I know I mean the world to him, and I can't describe the amount of security and comfort it gives me to know that I have a God who loves me more than my own father. And for those who don't have a great relationship with their fathers, or maybe don't even know their fathers, know that in God, you have someone that will never leave you, never disappoint you, someone who will be there for you… always.
Today's Prayer:
My Lord Jesus, thank You for giving me Your Father as my own. Call into Your family those that need a father in their lives to show them unconditional love, and bring all Your people together as one family under our Father. In Your Name we pray, amen.
