His Most Precious Gift

"I pray for them; I do not pray for the world but for those who belong to you and whom you have given to me - indeed all I have is yours and all you have is mine - and now they are my glory." - John 17:9-10

With Mother's Day coming up and soon Father's Day, we have to really think about the perfect gift for our parents. It has to be just right… just what they've always wanted. Our parents gave us life and out of appreciation, we try to give them something to show them how much we love them.

Did you know that we are the gift God gave Jesus? The Father loved His Son so much that He gave Him all of His creation. We are that special gift that God gives… so imagine how much you're worth! In turn, Jesus took us, made us His own, spoke His Word to us to make us complete and perfect for the Father. You see, sometimes when we're upset and everything seems wrong, we tend to be too harsh on ourselves… but how can you do this when you're God's prized possession? You're who Jesus worked on to show His glory and share that with the Father. Their love resides in you so you are more than just the problems you are facing since you are part of a divine project. In fact, because you still live in the world, and obstacles are always present, Jesus even prayed for you, to give you strength to overcome whatever comes at you, as long as you remain in the love of the Father and the Son. Don't look at yourself with your own eyes, but look at yourself the way Jesus does, as the most precious gift His Father could have given Him, and the most valuable thing for Him to guard and protect.

Today's Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me to act as what I really am, a gift from the Father to You. I want to stop seeing myself as less than I am and begin living with the dignity that comes from You. In Your Name we pray, amen.
