"When they heard the sound of The Lord God moving about in the garden at the breezy time of the day, the man and his wife hid themselves from The Lord God among the trees of the garden. The Lord God then called to the man and asked him, 'Where are you?'" - Genesis 3:8-9
Our relationship with God is unlike any other relationship we will ever have in our lives. Most relationships are a two-way street in which we determine how to treat the other person based upon how they treat us. As a mom, I know I love my children no matter what, but I have heard of other mothers who have abandoned their children, so I can't even compare the relationship between a parent and a child to that of God with us.
How is it different? God is ALWAYS looking for us. It is not us who look for God as if we are trying to find Him and He is hiding. Those of you who have a weak relationship with God or a strained relationship with God must know that you are the ones who have moved away from His grace and His love. Once Adam and Eve fell from grace, they hid when they heard God coming. Don't we also hide when we know we are carrying things that aren't fitting with His glory? We choose to move away. God stays in the same place. Don't think for one second that the moment Adam and Eve tasted that apple that God didn't instantly know what happened, yet He goes to His garden looking for His children. He knows sin hurts us. He knows it separates us from Him and He will always give us an opportunity to come clean and be healed. Just stop the hiding,... Be still, and let yourself be found by God.
Today's Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I am here and I want to be found by You. I don't want to live on my own anymore, but I want to walk closely with You. Make pure my heart and set me on Your path to always do Your will. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.
