"My grace is enough for you; my great strength is revealed in weakness." - 2 Corinthians 12:9
Recently, I was working really hard at something and had a setback that left me feeling pretty upset. I'll admit, I threw myself a little pity party, but I'm really not the type to dwell in the "woe, is me" sentiment. I'm the type to say, "no, that's NOT me" and pick myself up. It was the kind of setback that made me retrace all of my steps and try to build again from the ground up instead of picking up where I left off. This ground level, the foundation, for me is always God, so when I sat down to reevaluate my plans, I realized that He had given me an opportunity to run with but when I felt some confidence kicking in, I left Him behind in the dust.
Can you relate to that? Can you relate to moments when your ego and pride start to take over and you start to rely on yourself instead of God? It sneaks up on you, doesn't it? No person of faith ever sets out to do things on their own without trying to follow the will of God, but wow, we sure do get comfortable quickly, don't we? And this is precisely why God allows us to fall and have these setbacks because we will never be happy unless we are following the course that He designed us for. We might have our plans, but He knows better. He'll allow us to keep on going until we have no choice but to say, "I can't anymore... I need You." He allows for us to see ourselves as we really are - flawed and weak - so that He can show us how much faster we can go when He's carrying us. If you find yourself constantly going back to the drawing board trying to figure out how this could be your life, just humble yourself and tell God to take over.
Tonight's Prayer:
Father, I bow down before You and offer my life to You. I realize that I am nothing if I am not grounded in You. Build me up Father, according to Your will and help me to discover Your beautiful plan for my life. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.
