Knowing Peace

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you." - John 14:27

If you were to ask me to picture peace in my life, I think my mind would immediately escape to a white, sandy beach enjoying the warm breeze with absolutely nothing to worry about.  "Nothing to worry about" is that key phrase that I think most of us might refer to if asked the same question, and unfortunately it's what's going to lead to disappointment and turmoil in our lives.

The truth is that we, as long as we are living this life, will never be fully at peace if that is our definition of it.  Our definition of peace has to be rooted in Jesus Christ! I came across a great quote the other day that said, "Peace is not the absence of trouble, but the presence of Christ," and that is spot on!  Peace means that even if our life seems like it's crashing down around us, we know in faith that Jesus Christ has us by the hand and will take care of our every need!  I have been in tears, totally distraught, but through my watery eyes looking up to Heaven thanking Jesus because I know He will turn everything that seems like a setback or a defeat in my life into a victory!  Worrying is just allowing fear to enter into your heart when as a Christian your heart is only meant to be filled by Christ!

Today's Prayer:
Lord Jesus, fill my heart and give me Your peace.  Do away with any worry, any fear that keeps me from believing in Your promises.  Your Word tells me You will never abandon me and I want to trust in You with all of my heart.  In Your Name we pray, amen.
