"I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you, taking
from your bodies your stony hearts and giving you natural hearts." - Ezekiel 36:26
I asked God for the strangest thing this morning. Even when the words came out of my mouth, my mind was taken aback that I had just said those words. My commute to work in the morning is my prayer time and when I'm finished, I usually repeat, "Jesus, I trust in You," but this morning, the Spirit inspired me to say, "Break my heart." Break my heart? Why would anyone ever ask for their heart to be broken?
After saying the words and praying about the words, I know I do need it to be shattered to pieces. You see, what we usually fail to see day in and day out is that God is ALIVE and that He LOVES us and that alone is enough reason for our hearts to be bursting within our chests! That's enough for us to live in constant praise and adoration at His goodness, but we don't! Sometimes our prayers are dry. Sometimes our minds aren't there. And, yes, we are human and our lives get the best of us, but if you can't remember the last time that your relationship with God fired you up with passion, you also need your heart broken! I think most of us fall under this category, and that's ok. Just desiring it and realizing we need it is a sign that God wants to renew us and wants us living in that intense relationship with Him. Are you ready for that? Are you willing to ask for it?
Today's Prayer:
Father, I desire a stronger relationship with You, to know You better and feel my soul on fire for You. My heart is hard as a rock and I need You to break it and give me a new one as You say in Your Word. In Jesus' Name, we pray, amen.
