"So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you." - 1 Peter 5:6-7
When people complain that following the Word of God is one of those cases where it's easier said than done, I am quick to point out the reality of the authors of the bible. As one of Jesus' apostles, Peter had it rough. I've gone through my fair share of struggles and I'm sure you have as well. I know that our lives are burdened by conflict, illness, financial issues, and many tears are shed… but in the case of the Church's early followers, blood was shed as well. Therefore, when you read these words and Peter urges us with great faith to just abandon ourselves and our problems to the Lord, WE HAVE to listen and just do it because God was all he had and the only thing he needed. He was so sure of this that he gave his life for his faith, yet many of us prefer to live burdened by our problems because we don't know how to let go and let God.
If tonight you find yourself feeling depressed and without a way out of a situation that is keeping you down, raise your eyes up to the Lord and ask Him to lift you up. Put aside the doubts and hesitation, which will take you no where, and abandon yourself like a child into the hands of your Father, who as Peter promises, cares for us.
Today's Prayer:
My Father, I come to You lowly and humbled because I have nothing and no one but You. You know what I need and I ask You to please listen to me. Please help me and give me what You see as best for me. Teach me to be patient and trust in You. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.
