Home Sweet Home

"Just as the Father has loved me, I have also loved you; abide in my love." - John 15:9

When you abide in something, you take up residence there, just like you take up residence in a home. But we all know a home isn't a home unless we feel we belong there. A home belongs to us and we belong to it. Isn't it interesting Jesus asks us to abide in His love? We all seek to belong to someone or something. We desperately want to be wanted and to be accepted, but unfortunately we look to attach ourselves to things that aren't good for us.

Instead of wasting your time and your emotions on people and things that will hurt you, Jesus wants you to belong to Him. He wants you to make your home in Him. His walls will protect you from the bitterness and cold of those who try to hurt you and His roof will shield you and keep you cool from all the stresses of life. This is a home which will never collapse because it is protected by the love of the Father, and His love also embraces you.

Today's Prayer:
Jesus, my Jesus, my home. When I am weary, You are my fortress. You keep me safe and You protect me when I can no longer carry on. You give me rest so I can face another day. Please let my home always be in You. In Your Name we pray, amen.
