He Who Strengthens Me

"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13

So much emphasis is put on what we can achieve as individuals. We're taught from an early age that we're special and that we can be anything we want to be. I'm not saying that we aren't special or that we can't achieve things through hard work, but there is danger when we grow to only rely on ourselves for what we can achieve. The truth is that anything that you've accomplished for yourself has not only been because of your effort, but because of God's grace in your life. In the same way, if you're aiming for something and it hasn't happened yet, it isn't because you're not good enough or smart enough to do it, it's because God has something even better for you down the road! The Prophet Isaiah tells us that God's ways are above our ways, so whatever big plans you've got are nothing compared to what God has in mind for you if you put your trust in Him.
In no way should you get discouraged if you feel like you can't make things happen for yourself because you have a God who strengthens you and opens paths for you. What a relief it is to know that we don't have to have all the answers and we don't have to constantly work on our own to make something of ourselves because the Lord promises His grace. I, personally, don't want to rely on myself… I don't want to think that if I can't do something for myself, it's never going to happen… I want to rest in God's promises and live in faith that I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

Today's Prayer:
Jesus, all power and glory is Yours… all that I am is Yours… my hopes and dreams I put in Your hands so that You can be my strength and guide me on the path to what's best for me. In Your Name we pray, amen.
