He Is Faithful

"The Lord is faithful; He will strengthen you and keep you safe from the Evil One." - 2nd Thessalonians 5:3

It's hard to trust anyone nowadays. But if we're lucky, we start our lives completely trusting in our mothers and fathers. We looked up to them and depended on them for our own security and comfort. Somewhere along the way even our parents let us down and shatter our trust. Friends let us down and shatter our trust. If we can't trust the people closest to us, who can we trust?

You have to look deeper in the bible to really grasp the meaning behind this verse. These aren't just fluffy, happy words in a book. These are words inspired by the Holy Spirit in the hearts of people who probably went through more hardships than any of us ever would. Paul was persecuted, arrested, and killed for his faith, but through it all he always proclaimed that the Lord is faithful. It doesn't mean God will keep you from ever being hurt or losing something dear to you, it means that only He can give you the strength to keep on going. As Christians, our faith gets knocked down, we can feel empty, alone, lost, but these things are only for a moment. God has you, God knows you, God takes care of you. Maybe no one else ever showed you what it means to have your back, and if you trust Him, no one could ever do a better job.

Today's Prayer:
God, it's hard to trust you when sometimes I don't have anyone else around me who seems to care. I want to abandon myself in You and take a chance, please teach me how to let You take care of me and my fears. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.
