"Can a woman forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child of her womb? Though she may forget, I will not forget you. See, I have written your name upon the palm of my hands." - Isaiah 49:15-16
Have you ever noticed that it's the people who show us the least consideration that we're always trying hard to please? We think we can win them over somehow by doing nicer things for them, as if our love were for sale. I know a lot of people who try with their parents but always feel like they're not good enough. Or maybe it's a friend or a spouse who doesn't seem to be appreciative of anything we do. It really hurts and does a number on our self-esteem.
This is why the only person we should put our full confidence in is God. As He told the prophet Isaiah, even if your mother forgets you, He still loves you. It doesn't matter how little or how much you do or give to God, His love for you will always be there to uphold and protect you. When you're down and feel no one is there for you, read this verse… these are not just words on paper but the living Word of God. Scripture tells us that God thought of us, formed us in our mother's womb and ever since then has our names written in the palm of His hand! His love started before you had anything to offer Him. He loves you for who you are, not because there is anything you can even give to Him. In your struggles, in your heartbreaks, in your loneliness, in your worries, even when you turn your back on Him, He will be there for you because He cannot stop loving you. Today, take refuge in His love.
Today's Prayer:
Father, I am Your child, please guide me. Show me I have nothing to worry about. Show me that You have taken care of everything for me and that nothing is impossible for You. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.
