"Don't let yourselves be shaped by the world where you live, but rather by the will of God: what is good, what pleases, what is perfect." - Romans 12:2
We are wrong if we think faith is something to be taken lightly…if we think we should pray when we feel like it or that a quick prayer a day suffices. Each and every single day is a struggle in our lives between growing closer to God or moving away from Him. If you don't wake up in the morning with the intention to do better, to pray more, the rest of the day will be a wash out, and so will the rest of your life. There are so many distractions on tv, on the radio, and the internet… so much garbage to fill our minds with, distract us and waste our time. There are so many empty people we think we should be like, whose every move we follow… but what are you filling your soul with? We even spend time talking garbage about people with other empty people while our souls wither away. We make our priorities those things that give us so little back, meanwhile God becomes someone we usually think of during the holidays and when things aren't so good. The One who can give us so much, fill us entirely, we brush off because prayer can be boring, we're "just not into that stuff," or we just don't have time… it's funny how we have time for so many other useless things though.
Sometimes I don't feel like praying, sometimes I don't see my prayers being answered, and sometimes I get upset at God, but I'll never let my alternative be to lose Him… to live as those who have no hope and see myself get lost in a sinful, sad world. At the end of the day, the only thing each of us has is God.
Today's Prayer:
Lord, choosing to follow You everyday is a struggle. Help me to get up and dedicate myself to You because losing You and being alone in this world is the worst thing that could ever happen to me. Be my guide always. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.
