Follow The Way

"What a cloud of innumerable witnesses surround us! So let us be rid of every encumbrance, and especially of sin, to persevere in running the race marked out before us." - Hebrews 12:1

I really love rollercoasters, but when I get to the front of the line and I'm next, I get so scared! What helps me feel better is to look at the people who are just getting off the ride… they're laughing and relaxed… I look to them because they're ok and they just went through it. This same idea can be applied to our lives in Christ. Things can get really hard sometimes, and not even with the problems in our lives. Sometimes it's just hard to believe, to keep the faith in the face of so many distractions. But this verse tells us who to look to… besides Jesus, we have all these great people to look up to that kept the faith despite adversity. The letter to the Hebrews mentions Abraham, Noah, and Moses, but we also have role models like Peter who had his doubts, but chose to keep on believing, and Paul, who struggled so much with his own weakness that Jesus Himself became his strength. So like this verse says, we have innumerable witnesses that surround us, who have laid the path for us to follow to Jesus.

Today's Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the examples You have given us in Your great saints. Grant that through their love and life in You we may draw strength to follow in Your footsteps. In Your Name we pray, amen.
