"Just as Jesus was setting out on His journey again, a man ran up, knelt before Him and asked, 'Good Master, what must I do to have eternal life?'" - Mark 10:17
If you were the one kneeling before Jesus, what do you think He would tell you? In this passage, it turns out that the man kneeling before Jesus was rich. Jesus told him to sell all of his possessions and to follow Him, since he was already obeying all of the commandments. The man was saddened when he heard what Jesus asked of him and walked away because he didn't want to give up his wealth. Now, back to you… what do you think Jesus would tell you? You already believe in Him, follow Him, but when you ask Jesus what He wants of you next, what do you think that is? And, are you willing to give it up? Will you give up all of your riches and follow Him because the Kingdom of Heaven is worth it, or do you turn away from Jesus because you don't want to part with what you have. Look into your soul and pray about it. What is preventing you from doing more for the Lord and, when you discover what it is, what are you willing to do?
Today's Prayer:
Lord, show me how to search inside myself for things which keep me from You. I might not have the strength to let go of these things I keep so close, but please have mercy on me and lead me with You on Your journey. In Your Name we pray, amen.
