The Answer to Everything

"Set your heart first on the kingdom and justice of God and all these things will also be given to you." - Matthew 6:33

I've found myself in situations before where I don't know what to say to someone who's having a hard time with something. When I tell them to pray, they answer back that I don't know what it's like for them and it's not that easy. I used to think that maybe if I had struggled through some of the same things, that maybe my shared experience could offer some extra support and added insight, but how wrong I was! The only answer, the only consolation to anything is prayer and solace in God, nothing else. Even if we had the same experience as others who come to us for advice, our personal ability to comfort them can only go so far. I have to forget feeling incapable of helping or comforting if I don't know what it's like in their shoes because Jesus' words ring true for every one under every circumstance, set your heart first on the kingdom and justice of God and all else will be given to you! Prayer, prayer, and only prayer can get us through any hardship, and if you ever want to help anyone, even if you can't relate to anything they're going through, encourage them to pray and pray together with them.

Today's Prayer:
God, help me to put all of my trust in You and to help others do the same. No matter what our struggles are, our relationship with You is the only thing that can bring healing and joy. Always listen to our prayers. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.
