"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, my ways are not your ways, says Yahweh. For as the Heavens are above the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts above your thoughts." - Isaiah 55:8-9
I was driving on the Bruckner Expressway the other morning when I noticed the images on a billboard falling off. The billboard was so big and since I was still a bit far off, I thought the wind was bringing them down but as I got closer, I noticed two little men up high taking them down. I was astonished because they looked like little ants up there and immediately I wondered if that's how God sees us. Later on that day I was speaking to a friend of mine and when we spoke about God's expectations for us I thought about a lesson I learned in Earth Science back in 9th grade: the diameter of the earth is so big that not even the deepest valleys or the highest mountain tops can be seen from space. The entire outline is smooth!
We can talk about God being the Almighty, the All Powerful, so big and awesome, but sometimes when we think about ourselves, we might feel like God is going to knit-pick at our flaws and the things we do wrong. Or, sometimes we can say we trust in God, but when it comes to putting that trust to the test, we doubt God can come through for us. But how wrong we can be! Our God is so big that our valleys and mountain tops aren't visible to Him… our faults and weaknesses don't count because He sees us for who we really are, the entire package. He's looking at us from above where those details don't matter to Him, but the well-being of the child He created is what matters. And when you feel like your problem is too big for God, remember how big He is compared to you… like those men on the billboard, God can hold you and your problems on the palm on His hands. It really is all about perspective. Learn to look at your size and then look at how big God is!
Today's Prayer:
Father, I am so small compared to You but I know that despite that, You love me and take care of me. Help me to remember that You are in control of everything and none of my flaws nor any of my problems are ever too big for You. Your ways are always above my ways. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.
