"Give thanks to Him and bless His Name. For the Lord is good; His love lasts forever and His faithfulness through all generations." - Psalm 100:4-5
Every morning as I pull out of the driveway and make my way to work I put myself in God's hands. I always start by giving thanks and I realized that even though I have only been awake for about an hour, the Lord has already given me so much! In that hour He has given me food, clothes, water, a home, a car, a job, health, and the well being of all my loved ones. If we don't start our day by acknowledging the gifts God has given, we will take them for granted. And if we take them for granted, we will only see all the things we feel are wrong with our lives instead of how blessed we are. Sadly, many people struggle to put a meal on the table, struggle to find a job, have cars that are constantly breaking down on them or are coping with disease. Sure, there are always things we need and want, but we need to be thankful to God for the smallest things because it helps us realize that if He's faithful to us in the small details, He will be faithful to us in the bigger things.
A good way to be thankful is to just spend a while giving thanks for each and every little thing you can think of. My cousin and I did this the other day and at first we couldn't think of much, but as we went on we recognized more and more ways God has blessed us. And, I know He's blessed you tremendously and will continue to do so! So, please, be thankful. Take time to thank Him for the air you breathe, the sun that warms your face, the jacket that keeps you warm, that first cup of hot coffee in the morning, the little kid who made you laugh, the person who opened the door for you, the cheaper price of gasoline… and so many other things He has done today for you! Like I said before, if He watches out for you in all these small ways, He's looking out for you in the bigger things in bigger ways!
Today's Prayer:
Father, thank You for taking care of me. Thank You for the blessings and graces You shower upon me every single day. Although there are things I still need, what You do for me each day is much more than I could ever deserve. Allow me to always see Your hand at work in my life. Thank You, Father.
