Plug Yourself In!

"We are weak, but the Spirit comes to help us. How to ask? And what shall we ask for? We do not know, but the Spirit intercedes for us without words, as if with groans. And He who sees inner secrets knows the desires of the Spirit, for He asks for the holy ones what is pleasing to God." - Romans 8:26-27

There exists what is called the Dark Night of the Soul. There are moments when we pray and it's as if God isn't there. We plead for help and it's as if God has abandoned us. Sometimes, we don't even feel like praying at all. It's hard to get up and actually do it. But during these times, God could be doing the greatest work of all in our souls. What goes on with the soul sometimes isn't even felt by the body, that's why we could feel so dry with no desire to pray, yet our soul could be growing immensely. Therefore, we shouldn't be driven by feelings because prayer should be a constant dialogue with our Creator. Whether I feel like it or not, I need to plug myself back in with the Lord, and it's during the times I really don't want to pray, and I do it anyway, that He is most pleased with me. Yesterday I felt like I had nothing to say to Him, but I made sure I took the time and just sat there. I told Him, "Jesus, You know I don't have much to say right now, but I'm here." As Saint Paul says here to the Romans, the Lord knows we're weak, but the Spirit in us can do the praying for us, no words necessary, as long as we take the time to plug ourselves in.

When you're weak, remember always - God isn't a feeling, He's a constant.

Today's Prayer:
Oh, Lord, in Your wisdom You have given us a Spirit which speaks for us when we're not even sure what we could possibly want or need! Please keep on listening to me and help me always to make the time for You! In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.
