Bread of Life

"Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall never be hungry, and he who believes in me shall never be thirsty.'" - John 6:35

I started looking more and more for the Lord and He has become my sustenance. Looking back at my life and the moments in which I didn't pray much, I was living so empty and never realized it at the time. It took His call for me to see how much I needed Him and how everything else I was filling myself with was of no real value and didn't serve to nourish me. This is why Jesus says that He is the bread of life. Away from Him, all you occupy your time with will never fill you. Whether you realize it or not, you hunger and you thirst for something more. In your malnutrition, you've gotten used to the way you are and don't pay attention to the hunger pangs of your soul, but why starve yourself for food, when the Lord your God is waiting to fill you with His love and with His blessings? You choose to fill yourself with cheap things that leave you feeling empty when Jesus Christ wants to give of Himself to you, nourishment that will help you grow and be healthy.

If you are hungry, or tired of the meaningless food around you, go to Him and He will fill you. Don't fill yourself with scraps of food when He will give you the best of Himself.

Today's Prayer:
Lord, I have tasted of the morsels that this life has offered me, useless junkfood, quick to spoil that has left me feeling empty. I am hungry and I am empty, so Lord, I turn to You. You alone can satisfy me, You satisfy me. Amen.
